As soon as your application has been processed & approved by the DRE, you are notified and eligible to schedule your exam date via the online e-licensing portal.
Schedule a Prep-Course! Once you have your exam date, schedule your prep course as close to the exam date as you can!

Age: You must be 18 years of age or older to be issued a license.
Residence: A California resident. If you are not a California resident, see Out-of-State Applicants.
Honesty: Applicants must be honest and truthful. Conviction of a crime may result in the denial of a license. Failure to disclose any criminal violation or disciplinary action in an applicant's entire history may also result in the denial of a license. For further information, see Avoid Potential Denial of Your License Application (RE 229) and Application Eligibility Information (RE 222).
Education: Successful completion of three college-level courses is required to qualify for a real estate salesperson examination. See FAQ: “What courses do I need to complete?”
You’ll need to complete three DRE approved college level courses passing the final exams with a 60% or better to receive a certificate of completion.
You will then need to apply for and pass the California state exam with a 70% or better to obtain your real estate license

After completing your courses, which can be done in as soon as 54 days, you will then submit your application to the Department of Real Estate (DRE). Typically, DRE application processing takes about 60 days. You can expect to be ready to sit for your salesperson test in as little as about 120 days.
The fastest and easiest method is using the DRE’s online licensing system. You may reschedule an exam date at any time.
You will receive your DRE state exam results immediately.
There is no limit on how many times you can take the exam. The BRE charges $60 per exam sitting.
